Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a red shield is a silver (=white) castle masoned black. It has an embattled high tower and an embattled lower appendix. Upon the dexter middle point of the shield is a golden (= yellow) inescutcheon showing a black rampant lion, tongued red.
Meaning:
According to source the pattern has its roots in the seals known since 1308. The castle is a very old fortress, which was gained by the counts of Jülich, after the counts of Kessel had died out. Then the village of Bruche was renamed into Grevenbruche alluding to the counts of Jülich. The inescutcheon also is symbolizing the counts of Jülich.
