Heldenstein Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Gules a water lily leaf Argent over two barrulets wavy of the same; at sinister Or a panther rampant Vert, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The barrulets wavy are symbolising the former municipalities of Lauterbach and Weidenbach, which had been incorporated into Heldenstein in 1970/1978. The leaf is taken from the arms of the Benedictine Seeon Abbey, an important manorial lord from the 11th century until 1803. The panther is the heraldic animal of the County of Kraiburg, which also owned large estates in the village. Originally the panther had been on seals of the Kraiburg-Ortenburg branch of the Counts of Spanheim, succeeded by the Dukes of Niederbayern from the Wittelsbach kin in 1259. They adopted the panther for their own arms. The tinctures red and gold are those of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, which had various privileges until 1803.
