Meaning:
The charges are referring to the Teutonic Order, displaying its arms in the 1st and 4th quarter and the personal arms of its local commander Philipp Arnold of Ahr (1623-1634). The order owned the village nearly 500 years since the 13th century until the dissolution of the local commandery during the French Revolution in 1792/1793. The personal arms of the commander can also be found in the local chapel, dedicated to St. Marcellus, which was established by himself.
