Oberriexingen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale into gold (= yellow) and black. The dexter side displays a black, upright attire. The sinister side displays a golden (= yellow), bendy oar.
Meaning:
Oberriexingen gained city rights before 1281. Two families having the same name (which is not mentioned within source) had been the local rulers. One family had been a member of the higher nobility. Since the 13th century another one is mentioned, being vassals of Württemberg. The oldest seal from the early 15th century already displayed the attire and the oar. The attire is derived from the arms of Württemberg. The origin of the oar is not quite clear. Since the late 16th century the two symbols are shown in one shield.
