Elsendorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter again parted per pale of Argent and Gules, charged with two lozenges in counterchanged tinctures; at sinister parted per fess; above again parted per fess of Sable and Or, charged with a saltire in counterchanged tinctures; beneath Sable a tiger issuant Or spotted Sable and spitting fire Gules.
The dexter half displays the arms of the Benedictine St. Blaise Monastery of Admont. Ulrich of Elsendorf had donated church and village with all its belongings to the abbey in 1125. Elsendorf had been seat of an Admontian provostry until 1668, when it was transferred to the Benedictine Hohenwart Nunnery. The saltire is referring to the Barons of Mamming, who owned the Ratzenhofen district (Bavarian: Hofmark) between 1564 and 1759. The tiger is taken from the arms of the Barons of Kretz, who acquired the district in 1767 and built the local castle.
