Shield Gules with bordure Or, a lion's head Or tongued Azure.
Meaning:
The lion's head is the rest of a lion passant in the chief of the former arms. It is alluding to "Das große Freie", a territory of 14 villages colonised by yeomen.
The arms probably were approved in 1974, when Sehnde incorporated a few minor municipalities.
