Coat of Arms

Shield Azure; issuant from base a triplemount Or, charged with an oak twig Vert and crowned by an owl Argent armed Gules, which is flanked by six 6-point stars Argent.
The blue colour is referring to a blue city banner in the past. The owl (German: Eule) is a canting element. The stars are representing the six villages of the city. The stars had been chosen as reference to the Counts of Ziegenhain, the former rulers. The triplemount is representing Knüllgebirge, a mountain ridge. The oak twig is referring to the former tourist board of Kurhessen-Waldeck.
