Odelzhausen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a bend Gules, charged with three heraldic roses Argent seeded and barbed Or; in sinister chief an 8-point star Or covered in centre by an egg Argent.
Meaning:
The roses are taken from the family arms of the Minucci kin, also known as Törring-Minucci, who ruled the district between 1718 and 1835. They had also the local cognisance since 1820. The star with egg is alluding to the Monastery of Maria Star in Taxa, a place of pilgrimage. The abbey was maintained by the Discalced Augustinians and was secularised in 1803. The minster was demolished. The star with egg is referring to the "egg miracle". When Johann Wilhelm of Hundt, ruler of the district, in 1606 got into distress at sea, he promised to build a place of pilgrimage in his home village. But he forgot his promise. 10 years later on Easter Day a hen of his farm laid an egg in a star, displaying a radiant image of St. Mary, onto a brand new brick. So he remembered his promise and started building a chapel. Due to its enormous number of pilgrims the chapel was replaced by a church in 1654.
