Oebisfelde Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, an owl Argent, bearing on its breast an inescutcheon of the same, charged with two lozenges Sable in fess.
Meaning:
In 2000 German heraldrist Erika Fiedler finished an amendation of the former arms, basically displaying the same pattern but in different tinctures. The former arms were granted by the local ruler Gunter of Oberg around 1263, when Oebisfelde gained city rights. The owl is symbolising vigilance. The inescutcheon in the old arms displayed the family arms of the Lords and Counts of Oberg. Their tinctures had been modified in 2000. The flag colours are based on the existing city colours.
