Aurach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Or an aurochs salient Sable armed Gules, beneath Gules a sword Argent and a key Argent in saltire, superimposed by an arrow Or in pale.
Aurach was established in 1978 by a merger of Aurach proper and Weinberg. The aurochs is canting. From 1310 until 1796 both settlements belonged to the Bishopric of Eichstätt. Gold and red are the tinctures of the chapter, silver and red those of the bishopric. Sword and key are the attributes of St. Peter and St. Paul, patron saints of the church of Aurach. The arrow is an attribute of St. Giles, former patron saint of nowadays Seven Sorrows of St Mary Church in Weinberg.
