The flag depicts, over a blue field, the badge of the ministry. It is outlined in gold and has outer text reading MINISTERIO DE SEGURIDAD PUBLICA, its name; and COSTA RICA at the bottom, all within its outer ring.
The inner ring is outlined with rope, having in its center a green map of Costa Rica. Surrounding this are the badges of its 6 organisms: the Coast Guard, Public Force, Aerial Vigilance Police, Judicial Investigative Police, National Academy for Police, and Border Police.

The flag depicts a horizontal bicolor of light blue over purple; with a shield in the center, outlined in gold and in blue. The shield reads GUARDACOSTAS (coast guard name), a ribbon at the bottom reading COSTA RICA,
and in the center over a gold outlined circle an anchor imposed over the national stripes. All details are in gold besides the central figures.

The flag has a navy blue field, having in the center the force's logo. It is a shield surrounded by the words FUERZA PÚBLICA (above); MINISTERIO DE SEGURIDAD PÚBLICA and REPÚBLICA DE COSTA RICA to the sides. Below the shield is a gold star; this text
is in white. The shield has a silver border, reading at the top BENEMERITA [Meritorious]. Within the shield, a man with a cap is seen assisting two people (all white/silver outlined in black), showing its mission.
The field, also in blue, has the curved stripes of the national flag at the bottom.
