Based on the Local Agreement No. 002 of 1996 (archived at this site)

Through inquiry to the residents, it became known that the flag of Fontibón as an independent Municipality until 1954 was apparently a horizontal bicolor of green over yellow. Green signifies the large estates with their crops, lagoons, rivers and large savanna expanses of the high plateau; yellow signifies the rising sun. The flag was officially adopted through Local Agreement No. 004 on 28 September 2001 in its First Article, in effect on 23 October.

Coat of Arms

from Wikimedia Commons

The coat of arms of Fontibón was originally intended to be adopted through a contest, as resolved by Local Agreement No. 004 of 28 September 2001. There were no results for many years, until Local Decree No. 004 of 28 May 2009 called for a contest to be held. Through Local Agreement No. 007 of 19 October 2010, the coat of arms and anthem were adopted as official after the contest; in effect on 17 January 2011. The coat of arms was designed by César Augusto Arciniegas Beltrán. Description according to Article 1 of the decree:

Representative signs selected of the locality in the Coat of Arms:

Maloka [upper-right]: Represents science, business innovation, and technology.
Church of Santiago Apóstol: Represents religion and history after the conquest.
Bird with water and grass: Represents the rivers and wetlands.
Spiral with mouth: Pre-Colombian knowledge and artistic expressions.
Pinion: Industrial and manufacturing center [at the top].
Upper triangles above Maloka: Represent the transport terminals.

Concept of construction:

The symbol of Fontibón was built from the concept of what the word Fontibón signifies (powerful captain), determining a unity with the magic character of a pre-Colombian mask, asymmetrically composed but equilibrated in a heraldic format (according to Spanish norms), divided into four parts, in which are found the representative signs of the aforementioned locality, with text in the lower part which gives sustainability to the heraldry [over a ribbon reading LOCALIDAD FONTIBÓN].

According to this, RGB is stipulated (for virtual use) and CMYK, which are colors for printing, (the shield is made of two tints, green and blue, these two tints are prepared with percentages stipulated in CMYK).
* White: represents the colonial era.
* Green: represents the zones of the wetlands.
* Blue: represents the industry, technology, and the transport terminals.
