Diesbach (Bach = brook) and the thorny branch (Dorn = thorn)]
Since 2011 Diesbach is part of Glarus Süd commune.

In 2004 Diesbach merged intermediately with Hätzingen and Luchsingen into the new commune of Luchsingen.
