The municipal flag, designed by the heraldist Arcinoé Antonio Peixoto de Faria, shall be quartered by a cross, with green quarters formed by white stripes superimposed with red stripes, placed horizontally. The coat of arms is inscribed in a white circle placed in the center.

The quartering in cross recalls the people's Christian spirit. The coat of arms represents the municipal government while the white circle inscribing it represents the town proper as the municipal seat. White is a symbol of peace, prosperity and work. The white stripes charged with red stripes represent the spread of municipal power all over the territory. Red is a symbol of dedication, patriotic love and courage and valiance. The green quarters represent the rural estates scattered over the municipal territory. Green is a symbol of civility, honor, courtesy and abundance.

The shield's style is based on Brazilian heraldry, which was introduced from Portugal. The mural crown is the universal symbol of domain's coats of arms; it is argent (silver) with six towers, four visible in perspective view and red gates. In the shield's center, Christ on the cross, symbolizing the people's faith to their patron saint.
The lower part represents the mountainous region where the municipality is located and it stony soil. The pig recalls one of the municipality's main sources of income. The outer ornaments, maize and soybean, represent the main products of agriculture. The scroll is inscribed in letters argent with the name "IBICARÉ" surrounded by the date of its political emancipation, "01/05/1962".
