About the Flag

 The municipality of Colombo (246,540 inhabitants in 2020, therefore the 8th most populated municipality in the state; 19,779 ha) is located 20 km north of Curitiba.

The flag and arms of Colombo are prescribed by Municipal Law no. 14 promulgated on 27 August 1973.

Article 6.
The municipal flag shall be rectangular, in official green color, charged with the coat of arms.
The coat of arms, in the center of the flag, is tripartite, symbolizing:
The right field, which covers from top to bottom 50% of the flag's total area, is white, the color of peace, charged in the center with a red cross, symbol of sacrifice and work. The left field is divided in two equal parts, the upper left green, green, charged in the center with a plow representing the virgin land cleared by colonists and immigrants who extracted its resources, the lower left field, yellow, charged in the center with a bunch of grapes representing the fruit of human labor extracting from the soil one of the municipality's main sources of income.

Article 19.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Colombo shall be [description copied word by word from Article 6].
The coat of arms, in compliance with heraldry, shall be 7 units in length on 8 units in width.
