About the Flag

The municipality of Alto Paraíso (2,741 inhabitants in 2019; 98,777 ha) is located on the border with Mato Grosso do Sul, 600 km north-west of Curitiba.

Alto Paraíso (Upper Paradise) was established in the 1960, as Vila Alta (Upper Town) by the Companhia Brasileira de Imigração e Colonização. The municipality of Vila Alta was established by State Law No. 9,242 promulgated on 9 May 1990, separating from Umuarama, to be renamed to Alto Paraíso by State Law No. 14,369 promulgated in 2004.
