The flag is vertically divided blue-white-blue with the municipal coat of arms in the middle. The shield includes the following elements:
- a torch representing the emancipation of the municipality;
- a parchment meaning learning and education;
- plants of coffee and millet (flanking the shield dexter and sinister) and of tobacco, representing the main agriculture products;
- a milk cow, representing cattle breeding;
- a yellow scroll with the date of municipal emancipation (1 March 1963) from the municipality of Rio Pomba (Law No. 2764 of 30 December 1962);
- a blue field, representing the sky;
- a rising sun;
- the land, the source of income of the municipality.

Blue represents the sky.
Yellow represents wealth.
Green represents cultivation.
Black represents the creation of the municipality.
White represents peace.
