"The tower symbolises the medieval castle that gave the village of Oslip its name (the medieval form of the place name, 'Zazlup', for what was then a German-speaking village, is interpreted as the Old Slavonic phrase 'behind the tower'). The millwheel and the bunch of grapes represent the main sources of livelihood for the local population since the Middle Ages, namely agriculture – with particular emphasis on viticulture – and the milling trade at the Wulkamühlen. The two fallen towers symbolise the two villages of Pirichendorf and Hof, which were abandoned as early as the Middle Ages and whose land was divided between the neighbouring municipalities; the common lands of both villages now lie within Oslip's territory, meaning that life and the economy of Oslip today are also built upon the foundations of these two vanished villages."
