Hettingen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Vert a lion rampant Or, at sinister Argent two annulets intertwined Vert ordered per pale.
Meaning:
The two fields are representing the former municipalities, at dexter Hettingen<7b> proper and at sinister Inneringen, which means "in the annulets". Hettingen and Inneringen merged on 1 January 1975, forming the new city of Hettingen.

Old Coat of Arms:
Shield Vert, a lion rampant Or, in chief an antler Or.
Meaning:
Hettingen was first mentioned as a city in 1407. The first seal with prints since 1463 displayed already the current arms. The lion is taken from the family arms of the Counts of Gammertingen, the antler is alluding to Württemberg<7i>. The first tinctures appeared in 1535 with red lion and a black antler in a golden shield. The current colours first appeared in a new edition of Siebmacher's armourial in 1885 and were fixed by Otto Hupp in 1925.

Inneringen Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, two annulets intertwined Argent ordered per pale and flanked by two grain ears Or.
Meaning:
The annulets are canting, as the boroughs name means "in the annulets". The ears are probably symbolising agriculture.
