Shield Argent, in chief a pair of scales Gules balanced by a flaming sword Gules hilted Sable, in base a bush of myrtle eradicated Vert, all flanked by two pairs of pallets wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VILAR DE MURTEDA".
Meaning:
Sword and scales are attributes of St. Michael, the local patron saint.
