Peso Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Covilhã Municipality (q.v.); it had 737 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 10.8 km².

Coat of arms

Shield Or with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base two peaks Vert, above an impending Roman balance Sable, in chief a Greek cross Gules having three acorns Or capsuled vert at either arm. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VALES DO RIO".
Meaning:
The two peaks are flanking a "valley" (Port.: vale) and are thus canting. The acorn cross is an attribute of St. Anthony, the local patron saint.
