The shield is parted per pale, at dexter in a golden field a labarum (German: Kirchenfahne) Azure with pole Sable topped by an orb Sable, at sinister in a blue field above a cogwheel Argent, beneath a winged wheel Or.
Meaning:
The labarum is representing former Hermannsburg Municipality, today being the seat of Südheide, the wheels are representing former Unterlüß Municipality.

Unterlüß Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess into gold (= yellow) over green. Above are three green fir trees ordered per fess. Below is a silver (= white) cogwheel on the dexter side and a golden (= yellow) winged wheel on the sinister side, the latter slightly superimposing the former.
Meaning:
Unterlüß was established in 1847 alongside the railway line from Hannover to Hamburg. The first finished building was the railway station. In 1899 the German arms factory Rheinmetall settled down here and opened a factory producing muzzles and a shooting range. The trees are symbolizing the Lüßwald, a nature protection area being part of the Südheide. The cogwheel is symbolizing (defence) industry and the winged wheel is symbolizing the railway.
