Description

The Massachusetts gay flag is a combination of rainbow gay flag and the state ensign- not the state flag as in other states. The white square field charged with green pine tree is placed in the canton of rainbow flag and occupies half of the flag width. The tree is visibly darker than green stripe, making the flag another of those which employ two shades of a same color, in this case green. The flag was seen at the Boston Gay Pride, on 2014-06-14: www.flickr.com/photos/hickamorehackamore/14551310521

The flag also came to be used by the fans of New England Revolution soccer team, which is based in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Not very long after the Boston Gay Pride 2014, it was seen at the match in Foxborough on 2014-11-09:

It was used at the same place again on 2015-06-27:

Another photo from 2015, taken sometime before 25th September that year (based on the page content), can be viewed here: https://www.charitystars.com/product/ultimate-fan-experience-at-new-england-revolution-en
and another one, which could have been taken sometime before 2017-06-03 (same dating method as previous), here:

The flag might have actually been introduced well before 2014. A photo of Boston University hockey team supporters, described as having been taken on 2012-12-06, can be viewed here: https://flickr.com/photos/11214475@N07/14776842632/

However, the page says that it was taken on 2014-07-29, which might actually be the date of its uploading, but still makes it quite confusing and requires further investigation about the earliest use date.
