Coat of arms

Shield Or, issuant from base a mountain Vert, two watermill's wheels Azure ordered per fess, in central chief a grill Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "MONTARIA".
Meaning:
The grill is an attribute of St. Lawrence, the local patron saint.

Montaria Commune,aka São Lourenço da Montaria, is one of the 27 communes of the Viana do Castelo municipality (q.v.); it had 549 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 26.1 km².
