It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and blue.

Coat of arms

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Azure, carrying a boat Or, in centre two seagulls volant Argent beaked Or, in central chief a crescent recumbent Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "PRAIA DE MIRA".
The crescent recumbent might be an attribute of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, the local patron saint.

Praia de Mira Commune is one of the four communes of the Mira municipality (q.v.); it had 3147 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 40.4 km².
