Overview

This city of 21,450 inhabitants was founded in 1905. " The flag is a symbol with relates us to this part of the Puertorican soil, we display it to express that we are raised, that w e are standing [...] The red stands for struggle, endeavour and sacrifice. The green and white waves have the same meaning as those on the CoA. The green symbolizes the renewal, the spring, the dreamt-of transformation, such as we represent it in the branches and leaves of our friend the tree. The waves recall the winding little streams which sing the freshness of our meadows, and also the waters of our Guajataca Azul, unique in its beauty. They also recall the athletic vigour of the waves of our sea, from which came the warlike and notorious name of the Pirates."
