Arms: quartered: 1 and 4 or a lion rampant noir; 2 and 3 or, a lion rampant gules.
This coat of arms is probably based on the arms of the Counts of Holland
from the House of Hainaut (Henegouwen); the black lion is from Hainaut,
the red lion from Holland. Possibly Ilpendam belonged to those Counts,
e.g. Willem IV, before it came into the possession of the Lords of Egmond.
