Abbekerk village

Abbekerk is a village in the municipality of Medemblik (till 1 Jan 2007 Noorder-Koggenland), Noord-Holland province. Until 1978 it was a separate municipality, also named Abbekerk-en-Lambertschagen.

Flagdescription: white with in center a red church roofed blue on a green terrace, all of 13/20 flagheight.

Explanation: the flag is identical to the old arms of Abbekerk, a bit simplified.
The flag was adopted on 1 September 2008 by the Foundation Historical Abbekerk and Lambertschaag. The flag was designed by Hans van Heijningen, together with Frits van der Starre, member of said Foundation. Source: communication by Hans van Heijningen.

The arms of Abbekerk (after "Noord-Holland en zijn gemeenten, 1981", drawing by C.Druif), were: argent a church.
