Coat of Arms

The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted during the term of Municipal President José E. Cabrera (1980-1982). It was designed by José Alfredo Villegas Galván and Juan Antonio Balderas Villasana to publish in the cover of a Monograph of Cerritos, S.L.P. to be published the same year. Some versions of the coat of arms do not have a ribbon over the corn; this one is displayed for better illustrative purposes. The shield has an outer border that is scrolled. Under the shield a ribbon reading "CERRITOS S.L.P" and "GRANERO DEL EDO." [Granary of the State; at one point it produced the most corn in the state]. Its main border is in one color with sections in white. The inner section depicts, at the front, a ploughed cornfield with two cobs of corn over it for agriculture (most versions depict a ribbon over it that reads 1640-1824; the years in which it was founded and the year of San Luis Potosí statehood). In the background, the image of the chapel of Our Father Jesus is found, found on the Cerro de la Cruz hill. To its left further in the background, the San Pedro hill is also seen.
