Flag

Located in Oita City Oita Prefecture and established in 1949. The flag is white field charged with a blue and yellow emblem and horizontally written in black with the English university name. The University emblem of Oita University was designed with two dynamic circles in the motif of the initials "O" and "U" of "OITA" and "UNIVERSITY". It was designed by Yoneo Jimbo, a graphic designer living in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture and adopted in 2007.The outer circle (blue) represents the new Oita University's research and majors in education, welfare, medicine, environment, industry and economy, science and technology, and other fields, constantly striving for new things, moving forward without stopping, and contributing to the development of the local community and the international community on a global scale. The center circle represents the university campus, a place where people gather, learn, and engage in social and cultural exchange and activities. The blue color used for the "O" represents intelligence, sincerity, inquisitiveness, and independence, while the yellow color for the "U" symbolizes hope, growth, and happiness. .
