Flag

Located Kitami City Hokkaido Prefecture and established in 1966. The embroidery ceremonial flag has purplish blue background with a silver-gold emblem in the center and horizontally written in gold kanji institute name and gold fringe. In 1967, as a result of discussions between the Student Association and the Student Affairs Division, it was decided to establish a new emblem. The application process was open to students, faculty and staff, and they received 26 submissions. The emblem was selected by the Selection Committee, and the work of Michihiko Umehara, a third-year student in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, was chosen in reference to the results of a questionnaire conducted by students and faculty members. It was officially adopted as the institute emblem on June 17, 1969. It is a graphic representation of a star shining in the northern sky, the initials "K" for "Kitami" and "Kogyo"=Technology and kanji letters "大學"=Institute inside. (Source)
