Description

Local Council of Shoham (Onyx) was established in 1993 and already with 16,400 inh. (2003). It is situated near Tel Aviv-Jerusalem Highway (Hwy. 1) about 5 kms. east of Ben-Gurion Int'l Airport. It is planed to reach 20,000 inh. in high standard residencies.
The municipal website describe the emblem as follows:
"The shape of the emblem is combined of pattern shaped like a shield, community name and its municipal status.
The color of the emblem - green - express the landscape and its typical houses that are immerse in green.
The name - Shoham - was given after one of the Hoshen [breastplate] stones which were set in the Cohen Gadol [High Priest] clothes as he served in Jerusalem.
The idea for this name was caused by the mere existence of Shoham's nearby Moshav's - Bareket [Emerald] and Nofakh [Garnet] - named also after stones of the breastplate.
The name of the designer of the emblem: Nehemya Friedmann, resident of Bet-Nehemya."
Unfortunately, both the official and the unofficial websites don't show a photo of a flag, nor did I saw one while visiting it....
