Description

This photo shows a pre-1930 Zionist flag. I found it in the essay East of Zion (https://aeon.co/essays/what-happened-to-the-ideal-of-multireligious-arab-modernity). It is captioned "British and Zionist flags fly over an Arab village.
Photo taken between 1898 and 1930. Courtesy the Matson Collection at the Library of Congress".

It resembles the flag in the Larousse Dictionary, except the stripes run horizontally.

The photo is black-and-white, of course, and has been taken with orthochromatic file, which renders blues much lighter than they are, and renders red as almost black. I would guess that the lower stripe is dark blue (approximately the same as the blue of the Union Jack beside it), and the star is yellow.
