According to the book Hellenic flags [k7k97], the flag used in Kastellorizo in 1821 during the Greek War of Independence is white with a blue border, a cross and a fouled anchor crossed per saltire over a heart, all blue and surrounded by the blue writing "ΜΕΓΙΣΤΗ" (left) "ΚΑΣΤΕΛΟΡΙΖΟ" (right).
The heart stands for love, the anchor for hope and the cross for faith.
