Vouneuil-sur-Vienne (2,284 inhabitants in 2020; 3,680 ha) is a commune in the Vienne department.

The Battle of Tours, an important battle during the Umayyad invasion of Gaul, took place in 732 probably near the hamlet of Moussais (later renamed Moussais-la-Bataille), which is now part of the commune of Vouneuil-sur-Vienne.
The battle resulted in the victory for the Frankish and Aquitanian forces, led by Charles Martel, over the invading forces of the Umayyad Caliphate, led by Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi, governor of al-Andalus.
