Symbols of Castilblanco de los Arroyos

Municipality of Castilblanco de los Arroyos in the Province of Sevilla, Andalucia, has its own symbols, approved by the General Secretariat of Local Administration on 16.02.2023.

Coat of arms:
Description: "Spanish shield. On a field of azure, a silver castle on a green mound, open of the field and flanked by a gold lion. At the base, seven waves of silver and green. Crested with a closed royal crown."
Meaning: Since 1873, a castle and a lion of equal size have represented the town on its municipal seal. The silver castle (white castle) directly references the original hill fort on Cerro de La Malena, where the town was founded. The rampant lion figure comes from earlier sigillographic examples, probably from the arms of the Kingdom of León. Both stand on the fertile soil (green terrace) that is Castilblanco, crossed by seven alternating silver and green waves, representing the streams that, in 1917, became part of the municipality's name by Royal Decree of the Council of Ministers. The number of waves (seven) indirectly refers to the most emblematic of these streams, which also gives its name to the area of Castilblanco through which it flows: Siete Arroyos (Seven Streams).

Description: "Rectangular flag in the proportion of 3:2, cut from the top point of the hoist side to the bottom of the fly, the lower part being yellow and the upper part white. Half its height and in the center, the coat of arms."
Meaning: Silver and gold (white and yellow) are the metals of the two main elements of the municipal coat of arms . They are arranged on the field as a visual counterpoint to the position of these figures: the yellow section to accommodate the white castle and the white section to do the same for the golden lion. These are also the colors that popular tradition considers characteristic of Castilblanco's local customs. Lime and albero (a type of sandy soil) are present in the collective imagination of this town, in its facades, and in its cultural, sporting, and religious traditions. The white section refers to the place, the white castle, the inhabited site; the yellow section, to the traditions and customs of its people. Both contrast and complement each other, like the two figures on its coat of arms.
