Presentation of Riego de la Vega

The municipality of Riego de la Vega (954 inhabitants in 2009; 3,757 ha) is located in the south of León Province, 50 km of León. The municipality is made of the villages of Castrotierra de la Valduerna, Riego de la Vega (capital), San Félix de la Vega, Toral de Fondo, Toralino de la Vega and Villarnera de la Vega.

Symbols of Riego de la Vega

The flag and arms of Riego de la Vega are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 4 October 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed on 10 October 2002 by the Mayor, and published on 21 October 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 204, p. 13,865 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of six equal horizontal stripes, from top to bottom, blue, white, green, white, blue and white, and with a red stripe running from upper hoist to lower fly, of 1/4 the flag's hoist.
Coat of arms: Tierced per bend, 1. Azure a sanctuary church argent, 2. Gules a bend sinister fimbriated argent six flags argent per bend sinister, 3. Vert. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
