Nordvorpommern is the region between Rostock and Greifswald. Its flag is a banner of arms at this webpage.

Split blue [hoist] and gold [fly], a golden griffin in blue and a black griffin in gold. The flag is taken from the county website with some trivial changes. Ratio 2:3. The griffins represent the previous lordships of Barth and Rostock. Flag adopted 3 December 1997.

Flag and coat of arms were approved by minister of interior of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania on 3 December 1997, published in the roll of arms of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania as no. 0142.

On 4 September 2011 the county merged with Rügen County and the Hanseatic City of Stralsund forming the new county of Vorpommern-Rügen.
