Benningen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Sable a crozier issuant Or in pale, at sinister Argent a swamp carnation Vert with three blossoms Gules.
Meaning:
The crozier is symbolising the close relationships between the village and the Benedictine Ottobeuren Imperial Abbey, which owned parts of the village since the 11th century and was local ruler since the end of the 15th century. The tinctures black and golden are those of the abbey. The abbey lost the village in 1802 due to its secularisation. The carnations (Latin: Armeria maritima purpurea) are symbolising a nearby nature-sanctuary in the northwest of the village, where various kinds of grass, rush and reed grow, and also the carnation being unique all over Germany.
