Sigmaringen Coat of Arms

In a red triangular shield is a golden (= yellow) stag statant. A facetted 6-point star of the same colour is on the dexter chiefpoint.
Meaning:
The stag as the symbol for Sigmaringen appears already on the oldest seal of the city, known since 1316. All later seals and arms show the stag mostly statant, but sometimes forcene. The deer itself is most likely derived from the arms Count Gebhard of Peutengau-Hirschberg, Lord of Sigmaringen until 1253. The colours are generally gold in red, but until the 19th century also gold in blue appeared, unless the red colour is proven since 1483.
