Shield parted per fess, above Azure a ruined castle Argent flanked by two firs Vert; beneath Gules a hammer Or and a forceps Or in saltire.
Meaning:
At the end of the 12th century castle and Lordship of Hallenberg developed. The Lords of Hallenberg had been commissionaires of the Counts of Henneberg. The lordship was acquired by the Electorate of Sachsen in 1583, bartered to the Landgraves of Hessen in 1619 and finally acquired by Prussia in 1866. The upper half of the arms displays the local castle, a landmark. The lower half is referring to the local ironmongery, which is an important business line since the 18th century.

Both charges probably are referring to Thüringer Wald, a forest, and its riches of deer.
