Wald Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield Vert a church tower Argent between two eradicated firs of the same, chief Sable charged with three balls Or in fess and supported by a bar wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The firs are canting elements, representing a wood (German: Wald). The tower is reminding on the old name, meaning "new church in the wood", which had been in use until the 15th century. The golden balls are taken from the arms of the Lords of Benzenau, who ruled the village before 1493, when it became the Lordship of Kemnat, to which the village belonged. Then it was sold to the Bishopric of Augsburg. The balls are also alluding to St. Nicholas, the local patron saint. The bar wavy is representing the Wertach River crossing the municipality.
