Gutach (Schwarzwaldbahn) Logo Banner

[Gutach (Schwarzwaldbahn) logo banner] image located by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 28 Aug 2020

It is a yellow-white-red vertical tricolour with gradient fills has irregular lines of partition. The yellow part is charged with the coat of arms, the border between yellow and white by a red bobbled hat and a black inscription "Gutach"(1st line) "Schwarzwaldbahn" (2nd line smaller). In red base is a white inscription "Heimat des" (1st line) "Bollenhutes" (2nd line, bigger).
Meaning:
The red "Bollenhut" is considered to be the hat per se of Black Forest traditonal costumes by foreigners and many Germans. In fact this bobbled hat is only used in the Gutach Valley, and only by unmarried women, married women wear hats with black bobbles. Thus the inscription in base, which means "home of the bobbled hat".

Gutach (Schwarzwaldbahn) Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a linden Vert over a base parted per fess wavy of Vert and Azure, chief Or with an attire Sable in fess.
Meaning:
Together with the Lordship of Hornberg the village was sold to Württemberg in the first half of the 15th century, before it was acquired by Baden in 1810. The chief is alluding to the former rule of Württemberg. The oldest seal from 1750 displayed on a round shield parted per pale the three attires of Württmberg at dexter and a deciduous tree at sinister, the latter probably alluding to the Linden Inn, which had also been municipal hall and courtyard until the 19th century. All seals from the19th century only displayed the linden. The blue base wavy is alluding to Gutach River, name giver of the municipality.
