Shield quartered, 1st quarter Or two bars Gules, 2nd quarter Azure a cross moline Or, 3rd quarter Azure an oak leaf Or with acorn of the same, 4th quarter Or two bars dancetty Gules.
Meaning:
The arms show in the upper part the arms of the State of Oldenburg, to which the district belonged. The acorn symbolises the large forests in the district. The fourth quarter shows the oldest arms of the counts of Oldenburg, two bars dancetty, which were changed in 1200 by Moritz von Oldenburg into straight bars as can be seen in the first quarter.
The cross in the second quarter was replaced by a cross moline, the more correct historical cross for the area around Spohle and Conneforde.
