About the Flag

Blue-white-blue, with the white stripe apparently thinner than the other stripes (3:2:3 ? 2:1:2 ?).
Jarig Bakker, 4 November 2003

Reederei Zürich A.G. Jarig's flag of blue with a white horizontal band narrower than the two resulting blue ones presumably comes from the company's website where it shows as a moving logo. Another flag has been associated with this company, which was formed in 1995 as J & W Shipping A.G. and changed name in 1998, being blue with a yellow diamond bearing a black crossed "Z". The website http://www.swiss-ships.ch which shows a slightly different version from the table flag but there is a possibility that this flag belonged to an earlier company of the same name which operated as a ship owner from 1952 until 1970. Its role thereafter is unclear and it appears to have ended up as part of the Rhenus Group with its name lasting until 1996 when it became Rederei Basel A.G. before being finally wound up in 2000. The swiss-ships website associates the flag with a funnel of blue with a white band bearing the red letters "RZ" which does belong to the later still operating company. But the normal association between funnel and flag would appear to be closer to Jarig's image than the version with the "Z".
