The Municipality of Sapna was formed in 1998 by the Dayton Peace Accords, which divided the previous Municipality of Zvornik, a larger part of which was assigned to the Republika Srpska.

The coat of arms (municipal website) is green with a white masoned wall over which are green mounts over two blue wavy lines, in the central mount a yellow crescent and star, in the side mounts yellow arches, issuant from these green houses with red roofs. Toped with black name of the municipality.
