Flag of Lukavac

The symbols of Lukavac are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Lukavac, adopted on 29 July 2003 by the Municipal Assembly and published on 31 July 2003 in the Municipal official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Lukavac (text).

the symbols were designed by Goran Hrvić, a painter and electric engineer from Lukavac, now living in Tuzla, winner of a public contest in 2003.

The flag is described in Article 4 of the Decision as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Lukavac is of 300 cm x 150 cm in size, composed of three parts.
The first part is colored green, 80 cm x 150 cm in size.
The second part is colored white, 140 cm x 150 cm in size, with the coat of arms of Lukavac in the centre of it, of 72 cm x 90 cm in size.
The third part is colored blue, 80 cm x 150 cm in size.
The flag is edged with a yellow ribbon.
The reasons for the use of the colors green and blue in the flag are the same as in the coat of arms.
Besides, blue and green are historically, traditionally used in these regions in various spheres of life.
The white color in the flag is used as the color of openness, space, cleanness, wide views, aesthetical reasons etc.
The designer's website provides the color specifications for the flag as follows:

Green: CMYK 67 - 0 - 97 - 0;
Blue: CMYK 100 - 20 - 0 - 0;
Yellow: CMYK 0 - 20 - 100 - 0.

The flag is described in Article 3 of the Decision as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Lukavac is of 80 mm x 100 mm in size.
The coat of arms is dominated with the modified symbol of chemistry, colored blue, so that its center forms a slanted letter "L" colored white, as te initial of Lukavac.
In the base of that symbol is inscribed in white capitals "Lukavac" and are two white wavy lines below, symbolizing Lake Modrac and the other water areas of the Municipality (rivers Spreča, Turija etc. and Lake Bistrac), but also the development of tourism, hunting and fishing.
In the cut out part of the letter "L" is set a wheel with three buckets, darker blue, representing development, progress, constant motion, the hydroelectric plant of Lake Modrac and the mining wheel on the surface mines. At the same time, the three buckets represent the three nations living for ages in these regions. They are thus symbolically represented as the driving power thet leads the Municipality towards progress, development and prosperity.
In the letter "L" is a white dove as a symbol of peace, freedom, youth and openness of the Municipality to all who are ready for cooperation.
The blue color is used as a symbol of pure rivers, lakes and air.
In the background of these elements, a green area dominates, epitomizing that the Municipality and the town are rich in green areas and woods. This green area enters a factory chimney without smoke (on the right) and a settlement (on the left), meaning that we want an ordered, clean and with green rich settlement and the town of Lukavac as well as the ecologically clean industry, without pollution. The settlement on the left represents the age-long existence of settlements in these areas.
In the same time, in a way, the green area represents also the development of agriculture in the Municipality.
At the top left of the modified chemistry symbol, a fleur-de-lis is set, colored yellow, taken from the coat of arms of the old Bosnia and the coat of arms of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, symbolizing the thousand-years tradition of Bosnia.
At the top right of the modified chemistry symbol, a symbol of mining is set, colored yellow, representing the hundred-years tradition of mining in the region (coal mines and stone quarries).
The background, the top part of the arms is light blue.
The coat of arms is edged yellow.
