Department

Department of Ambato has 1 761 km2, with about 4 500 inhabitants. So far, I didn't find any symbols for the department, nor an official website or Facebook page.

The department has four municipalities of 3rd class - El Rodeo, La Puerta, Las Juntas, and Los Varela. In Catamarca some of the municipalities are subdivided into communes. El Rodeo, La Puerta and Las Juntas have no communes, but Los Varela has 8 communes - Chuchucaruana, El Bolson, Humaya, Las Chacritas, Los Castillos, Los Navarros, Los Talas, and Singuil.

Description of the flag

Singuil Rural Secondary School No. 1 became a leading figure in the Ambato department after winning the vote to choose the district's official flag. The design submitted by the 6th-year students garnered 35.3% of the vote, surpassing five other options presented by various institutions and community members.The project is part of the "Building Ambato Identity" initiative, promoted by School No. 35 of Los Varela , and had the participation of 571 people through Google Forms, ensuring a democratic and transparent process.

The winning design reflects the department's identity and cultural roots:
Andean condor: symbol of freedom and strength.
Mountain and river: they evoke the geography and nature of Ambato.
Tree with fruit: represents agricultural production, particularly of nuts.
Indigenous ceramics: rescuing the memory of the native peoples.
Earth colors, green and light blue: they connect with the landscapes, natural life and human work in the valley.

Following the vote, the students from Singuil will have to present and defend their design at the special session of the School Senate , which will be held at the Legislative Palace of Catamarca. If it receives final approval, the flag will become the official symbol of the Department of Ambato.

La Puerta

The Municipality of La Puerta in the Department of Ambato, Catamarca, uses two flags simultaneously. The municipal logo on orange or on green background with text "MUNICIPALIDAD DE LA PUERTA / AMBATO - CATAMARCA" below in two rows.

Las Juntas

The flag of the Municipality of Las Juntas in Department of Ambato, Catamarca, is white with the municipal logo on it.

Los Varela

The flag of the Municipality of Los Varela in Department of Ambato, Catamarca, comes in many colors. The flag consists of the municipal logo including text "Municipalidad / de Los Varela" in two rows on background of white or colors of yellow, green, red, light-blue, as can be seen on the photo. The white flag I chose as the basic one.
