The City of Matlosana is a local municipality in the Kenneth Kaunda (formerly Southern) District municipality
in the
North West province of South Africa and comprises the
towns of Klerksdorp, Hartbeesfontein, Orkney and
Stilfontein.
The new municipal flag has a white background with the municipal logo in the
centre with the words in black "City of" above and "Matlosana" below. The slogan
of the municipality, "City of People - Matlosana" appears vertically in the fly.
The yellow and green stripes allude to the gold mining and agricultural basis of
the area with the figures evoking the dynamism of its people. The flag is illustrated
here but
is not shown on the municipal website.

Following the re-demarcation of South African local authorities in December
2000, Klerksdorp, Hartbeesfontein, Orkney and Stilfontein amalgamated to form a new local authority called City of Matlosana
and new municipal symbols were adopted. The new municipal logo comprises two
human figures with arms and legs outstretched against a yellow and green stripe
reflecting the gold mining and agricultural basis of the area with the figures
evoking the dynamism of its people.
