The Tamim tribe (Banu Tamim or Bani Tamim) originates from the central
Arabian region of Nejd.
Today, they are widely dispersed across Saudi Arabia,
Oman, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Khuzestan, Levant (Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank) and
parts of North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt). They are
considered one of the largest Arab tribes with ~5 to 10 million descendants
worldwide.
The Banu Tamim are Adnanite (northern) Arabs of the Mudarite
branch, a major lineage among northern Arab tribes.
The founder of
Wahhabism, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, was a Bani Tamim.

While the Tamim tribe does not have a universally recognized modern flag,
historical references mention banners used in battles, such as the Banner of
Banu Sa'd ibn Zayd Manat during the Battle of Siffin (657 CE).
Their symbolic
identity is more tied to lineage, valor and religious significance than to
visual emblems. The name Tamim derives from the Arabic root tmm, meaning
complete, perfect or strong.
556 is their (unofficial but widely adopted)
tribal number used by youth of Saudi Arabia, in social circles, cultural
gatherings and in video games or tags on social media.
Among the variants of flags seen, the oldest have the arms and the inscription "Victory from God has fallen upon the prey" and "Banu Tamim" in red on a white background. The most recent have just the arms, with Banu Tamim written, surrounded by a circle, in white or yellow on a red background.
